Your Kolo Wallet — How It Works

Kolo's wallet has moved to a non-custodial, multi-party computation (MPC) model, giving you direct control over your Digital Assets.

About Your Wallet

Kolo has moved to a non-custodial model. Your Digital Assets now live in a wallet that only you can authorise, instead of being held by Kolo on your behalf. Kolo acts as the application you use to view, manage, and transact with your assets, while the assets themselves live on-chain.

How It Works

Your wallet is secured by a multi-party computation (MPC) key arrangement:

  • You hold a key share that is required to authorise every transaction.

  • Kolo's key share alone is never sufficient to sign a transaction.

  • The full private key is never assembled by any single party.

  • You can recover or export your access at any time.

  • A new key share is generated automatically each time you create a wallet, including additional wallets added from your profile.

Keeping Your Wallet Secure

Your key share and wallet credentials help secure access to your wallet. You are responsible for safely storing, never post them in chat, and never share them with anyone. Kolo will never ask you to reveal them — anyone who does is not acting on Kolo's behalf.

You can view your key share anytime by going to:

Profile → Security → Encryption key.

Tap to reveal it.

Select Copy to clipboard to save it somewhere secure.

Treat your key exactly like your wallet credentials — never share it, and never enter it anywhere outside the Kolo app.

Regulatory Considerations

Even though your assets are non-custodial, compliance requirements, including KYC, still apply to standard operations such as card payments, deposits, and withdrawals. This also reduces the operational and regulatory complexity of holding client funds, since Kolo does not have possession of your assets.

How to Delete a Wallet

In Kolo, your Main wallet is the first wallet created in your account. It cannot be deleted — if a wallet is marked as Main, the delete option is not available.

To delete an additional wallet:

  1. Open the wallet you want to delete.

  2. Go to wallet settings (three-dot button).

  3. Select the delete wallet option.

  4. Review the warning carefully.

  5. Confirm the deletion.

When you delete an additional wallet:

  • Access to this wallet is removed from the Kolo app.

  • Any remaining funds are transferred to your Main wallet.

  • The wallet address and on-chain transaction history remain on the blockchain and cannot be deleted.

⚠️ Before deleting a wallet, make sure your key share and wallet credentials are safely backed up.
