EUR Card Limits and Restrictions

This article explains the limits and restrictions that apply specifically to the EUR card in Kolo.

These are EUR card limits, not general Kolo account limits.

Your Kolo account may also have its own spending or transaction limits. The EUR card limits apply in addition to those Kolo limits, not instead of them. If either limit is reached, the transaction may be declined.

What These Limits Apply To

These limits apply specifically to the EUR card.

They cover:

  • card purchases

  • cash withdrawals

  • certain restricted transaction types

They do not replace the general Kolo account limits shown in the app.

Kolo Limits Still Apply Separately

Kolo also has its own account-level spending and transaction limits.

This means:

  • the EUR card has its own card-program limits

  • your Kolo account may also have separate Kolo limits

  • a payment must fit both sets of limits to go through

For example, even if a transaction is within the EUR card limit, it may still be declined if your Kolo account limit has already been reached.

To check your Kolo account limits, open: Profile → Limits

There, you can see your total limits, remaining amount, and reset time.

Transaction Restrictions

In addition to amount limits, Wirex also restricts certain transaction types.

If a merchant is classified under one of these MCCs, the payment may be declined automatically.

Transactions may also be restricted for merchants located in certain countries or regions, including:

  • SDN

If a transaction falls under one of these restricted conditions, it may be declined even if your available balance is sufficient.

Why a EUR Card Transaction May Be Declined

A EUR card transaction may be declined if:

  • the transaction amount exceeds a EUR card limit

  • your cash withdrawal limit is reached

  • the merchant category is restricted

  • the merchant location is restricted

  • the transaction currency is restricted

  • your Kolo account-level limit is reached

  • the merchant is not supported

  • fraud is suspected, or the card was reported lost, stolen, or compromised

  • there aren’t enough funds available

  • the card has expired

  • this type of transaction isn’t allowed for your card

  • the card is blocked or restricted from use

  • the withdrawal amount or number of withdrawals has been exceeded

  • the transaction was cancelled or reversed

  • the transaction was declined on the bank’s or terminal’s side

  • a technical or formatting error occurred while processing the payment — please try again

FAQ

If my transaction is within the EUR card limit, can it still be declined?

Yes. Even if a payment is within the EUR card limits, it can still be declined for another reason, such as Kolo account-level limits or Wirex transaction restrictions related to merchant category, merchant geography, or transaction currency.

Can a cash withdrawal fail even if card payments still work?

Yes. Wirex documents separate purchase limits from cash withdrawal limits, so ATM withdrawals can be restricted independently from card purchases.

Does “unlimited purchase count per day” mean there are no restrictions on purchases?

No. Wirex says the count of purchase transactions per day is unlimited, but amount limits and transaction restrictions still apply.

Need Help?

If your EUR card payment was declined and you are not sure why, contact support and share:

  • the transaction amount

  • the merchant name

  • the currency

  • the approximate date and time of the attempt

This helps us check whether the decline was caused by a card limit, a transaction restriction, or another rule.
