Card Types & Issuers
Kolo works with multiple card issuers behind the scenes. Based on your KYC verification, we determine which card program best fits your profile. This means some rules, limits, and features may vary depending on your assigned card issuer.
When issuer-specific differences apply, we clearly specify them in the relevant documentation.
Currently Available:
Card | Network | Tier | Currency | Issuer |
Kolo Visa Card | Visa | Platinum | USD | Banco Popular de Puerto Rico |
Visa Platinum Benefits
Kolo cards with BIN 454905 are Visa Platinum tier cards. However, Kolo does not currently have a direct integration with the Visa Loyalty program.
To explore and claim Visa Platinum benefits (such as travel perks, insurance, discounts, and offers), please visit official Visa resources:
๐ Visa Platinum benefits and promotions are managed directly by Visa. Any eligible perks can be explored and claimed through Visaโs official channels.
Virtual & Mobile Wallets
All Kolo cards are currently virtual only โ there's no plastic card to carry. You can add your card to:
Apple Pay โ for iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac
Google Pay โ for Android devices and web payments
This allows you to make contactless payments at physical stores and seamless online checkouts.
๐๏ธ Physical cards are planned for Q3 2026.
How Payments Work
When you pay with your Kolo Card, here's what happens:
Authorization โ We check your available crypto balance
Conversion โ Your crypto is converted at the current rate
Payment โ The merchant receives confirmation of payment
Multiple assets in one payment: You can pay using a combination of different cryptocurrencies. For example, if you're paying $675 at a merchant, the system might use 100 USDT + 0.25 ETH to cover the total amount.
โกConversion happens instantly at the moment of payment โ you don't need to pre-sell your crypto or maintain a USD balance.
Choosing Currency at the Terminal
When paying at a physical terminal, you may be asked to choose a currency. Always select the local currency of the country you're in. For example: EUR in Portugal, PLN in Poland, AED in UAE, GBP in United Kingdom, etc.
Why?
If you choose local currency: Visa performs the conversion using their network rates, which are better than local bank FX rates in 99% of cases
๐ก Pro tip: Only choose USD if the merchant is actually billing in USD (like US-based online stores). Otherwise, always go with the local currency.
Where Can I Use Kolo Card?
Your Kolo Card works anywhere Visa is accepted worldwide, with a few exceptions due to international sanctions. See the Ru Rules for the full list of restricted countries.
